WEIGH IN

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!     I DID lose 1.4 lbs!  I wanted more and Angie your comment really helped me STAY motivated today. And Heather, yours made me smile :)  It just gets me angry that I worked so hard with the exercise and I did expect more weight loss...at LEAST 2 lbs but I only got 1.4  Well, I guess I got SOMETHING so I'm going to be happy with that.  If I can lose that every week it would be a good thing.  I want to lose it slowly anyhow.  So NO MORE complaining for me!  Thank's to all who read and comment!  It REALLY does help knowing there are people out there who are waiting to see IF you lose weight lol.  It sure does make me try harder.  I'm happy with what I got today and I'm going to heal my blister and get back to walking starting on Monday...I may SNEAK in a little today to see how it goes but if it starts hurting i'm going to stop.  I really would like to break my 11 3/4 mile mark this next week ;)  OHHH I almost forgot...I would like to ask you all a question...when you walk a mile how long does it take you????  I HATE that I'm the slowest walker there and EVERYONE (including old men!) pass me up.  I still have yet to see a "fat" person there!!! I think I'm the only one!  I am sweating and feeling like I'm getting good workout but AM i really?  It takes me just shy of 24 min to walk a mile...how is that??  Thanks for the help!!  Oh i have more pics to add but I'm going to wait until I get back from picking my son up because I want to take more there and will add those as well tonight.

Way to GO! 1.4 is nothing to look down on, as long as your moving forward. I'm telling ya, your building muscle.  I'm glad I helped you stay motivated. It helps me stay movtivated by reading your blog. We sound a lot a like.  And I think if you have a goal of mile walking that is awesome. I do the treadmill sometimes but I get so dang gone bored, I have no idea how long it would take me to walk a mile. I do have long legs though.

Congrats on the weight loose... everything counts in the end it all adds up. Keep doing what you're doing obviously it's working. Just take one day at a time. Good luck we're all pulling for you.
Take care, Chrissie

On the treadmill, when I first started going back (this time - right after memorial day) going at about 3 mph, it would take me 20 minutes to walk a mile. That's relatively slow, treadmill speaking. Right now I'm trying to walk 3.4mph which is about a 17-something minute mile and that's moving at a faster clip. I try to move fast enough that I feel a little bit breathless but am not sucking wind and that it doesn't hurt my knees (because of my mom and grandmother both having to have major knee surgeries).  It also depends on whether you're walking on a flat track or hiking -  I much prefer walking in the woods but right now it's too hot outside.
Hope that helps...
And... ok... look at it this way... losing 1.4 pounds a week would make you 36 pounds lighter in six months... it does add up! TRUST ME!

Is it the goal only, or the journey as well?  Perhaps some need to slow down and enjoy along with you instead of racing ahead:)  I say that as a "recovered" fast walker.  My father always walked very fast and my then wee little legs couldn't quite catch up.  It can also feel invigorating.  My beagles can run, and sometimes likes to, but, she loves to sniff, mostly for other dogs or the scent of a squirrel or rabbit.  I suppose it's the dog equiivalent to stop and smell the roses.  Meaning, don't worry how fast, if it's the best speed for you.  Nor worry about the size of the others out there, comparatively.  (But, if I time myself walking a mile sometime, I'll try to remember to come back and give you the response.)  -- Robin by way of Angie /CanyonSun04
