Today is the day when we start living without cable lol So far so good however when i went to turn on Franklin for Nic he was disappointed that I didn't get that on for him. He will adjust. Were just trying to cut all the things that are not a necessity's so we can get money back into our savings account. We found with all the things we have that we don't need we are beginning to live pay check to pay check and we don't like it! I may be going back to work to help out a little. We won't need a sitter cuz Cory will be home for Nic when I go to work. He really doesn't really want me to go back to work but I may have no choice. I will just do it until we get the CC paid off and have at least 3 grand in savings. Then I will feel better!
I have been making a strict grocery list and sticking to that. We have not purchased ANYTHING that we don't need for months now. It's boring, it sucks but sometimes that's what ya gotta do! The only thing we have done that we could have saved on is me going to Stefan's matches. The gas for travel is crazy...were still up over 3.17 a gal here! Of course I have not been out in a few days so not sure if it has gone down or not.
Movie reviews...I will most likely have a lot of those now that it's all we can watch! We DID keep blockbuster online and with the envelope movies we get to exchange them for in store movies and we are grandfathered in so we still get unlimited exchange where as if you join now you only get five a month! We go through WAY more then five a month! So that's one reason to keep it going. It's 21 bucks a month but we don't have late charges and we get up to 25 sometimes more movies a month if we get them watched and returned right away. Stefan's school is only a few blocks from the school so it's convenient too! Now, when Stefan graduates and no longer goes to school there it will be an inconvenience as it's miles away from my hubby's work. Then we may have to re look at the cost of gas and all that to see if it's still worth it. But for now were enjoying them.
Last night we seen:
"Game Plan" Starring The Rock and it was for sure a two thumbs up film! And although it was about football, it wasn't ALLabout football. It was mostly about this guys daughter. Her mother dropped her off at his (her fathers) door step (so says she) and he has to watch her for a month while her mother is in Africa. It's a must see!! And it's heartwarming too.
"Good Luck Chuck" Oh this was a hilarious movie and it was also Two thumbs up! Starring Jessica Alba (she plays a big klutz on this movie) and Dane Cook. I have to warn you tho...DO NOT watch this around children OR even teens for that matter. It's almost like a light porn lol Although we did get the unrated version...and OH man, i can see why! lol It's funny tho and if you get a chance SEE this movie!
Stefan has a meet tonight but he doesn't wrestle so I'm going to stay home today...I don't know if hubby will wait that long for him OR come home and make me run back and get him because of course Stefan's truck is under repair yet so he doesn't have it. His light comes in tomorrow I HOPE! And then after that if fixed he can drive it again. And he's over being scared now so he said he was ready to drive again :) That's a good thing. I didn't think he would NOT want to drive for long. lol Well, other then that I don't think anything else is going on lately. I don't have any new pics but will try to post some tomorrow of something! lol My only plan today is cleaning, cleaning, and more cleaning...oh and laundry of course...the two are never ending are they!

I know what you mean about cutting down on spending. I am trying to do the same thing, but it is SO hard! Good luck, and I hope that if you DO have to go back to work, you find something you like!!!
We've had to cut expenses too. I think most people have to now days!

Last night I was sitting in the den updating my blog, see what new do-dads AOL added. I kept hearing the wild laughing coming from my son's bedroom. Now he is 19 years laughing alone in his room after being in a piss-poor mood all day....I walked down the hall to peek into his room to see if he was watching a movie, chatting with his friends or what. Relief my boy is happy again! Then I walked to see what he was laughing so hard at, OMG TOO FUNNY! Good Luck Chuck, I only watched a few scenes and decided this movie is not one to watch with my son so I am saving it for a uplifting two hours! Zac gave it 2 thumbs up!!
And I love Jessica Alba, one of the few good young actresses in Hollywood and seems like one I would let my son date!

I just heard on the news today that what you are doing is the right thing. I would find it hard to do too. Expecially going back to work. It may be a good thing. You might find that you like it. Yes, Cleaning and laundry every single day here too.

I so can understand what you mean. We don't have cable and are cutting corners to rebuild that savings acount. With the new house we spent a lot of it out and that stresses my hubby out big time! I don't really miss cable. Rebekah is still too young to really watch much tv and most of the shows I like are prime time. I have also been getting dvd's from the library. Those are free! :) lol They have a lot of the tv series. It's nice because you can request them so if we time it right as soon as we get down with one season the next one is waiting for us there. Currently we are watching the Jag series. I tried Miami Vice but got bored with it. I never watched it as a kid and now I see I didn't miss much! :)
Hope you have a great day!

I understand about cost cutting a budget.....we're having to do that too now that Marv lost his job. It's hard, but you are right that there are so many things we can live without....we just got used to having too much :) I'm proud of you for sounding so positive about it.....that will make it easier for the kids, too. Good for you!!!
Thanks for the movie reviews, I'll have to check those out.

Linda
With gas being what it is, it makes having anything extra hard to do. Makes things tight, but what can you do, got to have the gas. I hope the day doesnt come when I have to go out and get a job again. I will if I have to though, whatever it takes. I hope you can get everything back in order soon. I know how frustrating it all can be. Hugs, Kelly
We've been tightening our belts around here too hon. Our goal is to pay off our house to avoid the high fees from the mortgage company (meaning I refuse to pay more than my house is worth). Another vehicle hopefully before our truck goes bust. We do still have cable, but for us that's the only luxery. Without the cable the idiotic local stations here screw up the close captioning like crazy. So in some ways it's a needed necessity too if I want to watch tv. I've found making huge pots of Stew or Spaghetti Sauce goes a long way. You don't mind it so much in the winter, having something warm in your stomache. (Hugs) Indigo
Boy do I know what you mean. Den likes to mail order books, stamps and coins for his collections. I told him in October no more. Those are wants. We have more needs like clothes and getting life ins. on me next month. We switched from cable ($110 a month) to Dish Network ($60 a month) back in December. It has alot more channels and we get 3 movie channels free for 3 mos. A couple weeks ago, we got a letter from our former cable company saying they appreciate our business but they were going up another $5 a month. Hello.....we're no longer customers. When they asked why we cancelled, we told them it was just too expensive. With gas prices.....OMG.......we try to only use 2 tanks a month. Luckily I don't work outside of home so that is a plus. We also have Netflix. We seen Game Plan at the theatre. I loved that movie! Haven't seen Good Luck Chuck yet. Will have to check that out.
Hugs,
D
