Pictures/video of hospital stay and gift :)

Ok finally got those pics up here. 
This first picture is about 2pm Saturday.  It was the first time he was able to get out of bed...after being medicated he was able to walk to this car with a neck brace.  Still not supporting his head totally yet as you can see while I push him down the hall way.





An hour later maybe less here he is supporting his head without the pillow.





And now without neck help at all besides his brace.



Alex and Pat came to see Nic and  here he is with his sister making a poster for his door that says "Nic's room"



Here are all the different cars he had to choose from...I think he drove them all at least 10 times! 



Here he is the next day feeling pretty good.  He wanted to take off his neck brace but he still holds his head a little to the right.

THEN after getting his iv at 6am in the morning...he wanted to go home!  BUT that didn't stop him from smiling!  Here he is hooked to his IV


After his MRI, were getting ready to get that IV taken out and then were going HOME!


Here is what Linda got Nic:  It's wonderful and I even used it once...OK twice!  But then Cory  yelled at me!  :( 










I want to also share some other news.  Remember Stefan's X-girlfriend Dawn?  Well she just told Stefan she was pregnant :(  She is due in October.  It's NOT Stefan's baby of course...he hasn't see her in over a year...since her prom actually.  Her boyfriend dumped her once he found out she was pregnant.  She asked Stefan to go to the hospital with her when she has the baby.  They have always been real close even tho they were not dating.  I feel terrible for her and hope that she does ok.  I told Stefan if he wanted to go there he could.  I would even go with him. 

Here is the one and only video I was able to get of Nic in the hospital because we did not have our camera card :(  Alex could not find it when we sent her home for some things.  I forgot I moved it.

News on my older son&why did I get all wheepy in front of my dad?

I don't ever think I mentioned it or not but my older son who is 17 is leaving for school on Sept 2.   I think most of you already know that Stefan is deaf...well, he decided to give up wrestling (the only thing keeping him at his hearing school) and go to a school for the deaf.   He was going to go last year but he just wasn't ready yet.  He made the decision a few weeks ago and I'm proud of him.  I think it will be a good move for him.  He is so outgoing and does have a lot of friends at  his school but he is just tired of not being able to 'talk' to people without having to pull out a tablet and pen.  I don't blame him!  It would be frustrating.  He wants to just be able to talk to his friends...here he will be able to...everyone is deaf...everyone uses sign language, even the teachers!  It's going to be a good move.  He stays there his entire Sr. year and comes home on weekends.  He has a dorm room there for the week.  He can bring his truck...he's not sure yet if he will.   It's a very small town and they can walk anywhere they want within 15 min.  He will be about 3.5 hours away from us and it's going to be hard on me for a while I know that.  But I think it's a good move for him.  I hope he likes it there!  They will also get him into a job where he can make his own money :)  And they also have ACT/SAT prep courses there.   They kids are allowed to stay until they are 21 if they feel they want to.  They can take classes there that may transfer to the college of his choice. 
Our kids are thankfully covered under my hubby's ins until they are aged 25 so that's a relief to me!  That gives them a chance to finish up college and get a job where they can get their own Ins. 

NOW A BIG THANK YOU TO A VERY SPECIAL JLANDER! 

Well, yesterday my dad comes into the house with our mail...he always gets our mail for us...in that mail clutter laid a big box.  My dad says...ya got more chickens I think (He's used to Kelly sending me FREE eggs to hatch (another VERY special Jlanders here ;)!   I walked over to the box and it had Nic's name on it :)  I called Nic at grandmas and told him he had a box here!   I read the card and this is what it read:

"I'm sorry to hear you had to be in the hospital Nic.  Feel better real soon! 
Winnie the Pooh hugs, Linda (your moms friend) " 

LINDA,  Your such a sweet heart!  You made me get all choked up in front of my dad! LOL  What a grand present you sent Nic!  I took lots of pictures (he had the biggest smile) I will post here when I get them uploaded.   My dad says...wow someone sends you a gift and you don't even know them??  What do you say on that journal of yours he says?  LOL  
YOU with just losing your home took the time out to send this gift to my baby means SO much to me.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  I was telling Nic about YOUR baby Mandy and where she worked and that someday when we get back to Disney we would go meet her.  He got all excited. Now he talks about "his girlfriend Mandy" all the time who lives at Disney World!  Tell Mandy to watch out...her boyfriend will be looking for her when he gets to Disney!  :)  THANK YOU LINDA!   
I will keep your gift secret until I post pics later today (I HOPE TO POST PICS TODAY).

I just can't believe how wonderful you guys have been with sending your prayers, and well wishes, even gifts to someone you don't know personally :)  I am SO happy I chose here for my blogging. 

BTW, Linda,  I like that gift as much as Nic!  Hubby had to tell me to save some for NIC!  We had a great time with it! 

MRI Results

Well, it took a while but we finally got our results.  We were suppose to know by 1pm but didn't know anything until 3.  And the nurse we had last was aweful.  She didn't even come empty his urine bowl the whole day...it was filled and there was no more room for him to go anymore!  Cory finally went out to talk to the head nurse and SHE came in to take care of it.  Anyway, the news is ALL good :)  There must have been a glitch in the film  or a shadow of his bone because the MRI showed NOTHING there :)  I was SO thrilled!~  We are now home after waiting two hours or more to be released by OUR awful nurse.  Nic had to have the IV in his arm for an extra hour and 45 min after he needed it.  The drip was actually suppose to come out at 1 so he could walk without dragging the machine around and the iv was suppose to be removed at 3 but nothing came out until 10 min before we had to leave!  I was not happy!  This nurse was young and didn't seem to care much at all.  Glad were home!  Well, I'm going to get to bed early because I really missed my bed!  A LOT!  I am so sick of sleeping on hard recliners!  I will post all the pictures and one video that we were able to take.  Our camera phone didn't do so well but we do have a couple that we can post.  Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts!  I appreiciate it more then you know!  See ya tomorrow! 

MRI done

HUH I added an entry but don't see it...in case it didn't show up I will read news here in hopes THIS one works. There will be a little more info in this one because I found a little more time...so I will just erase the other if it does happen to show up. 

This morning they grabbed Nic up at 6am and took him off to a little room to put in his IV.  He said ow ow and some tears rolled but that was it. I was SO proud of him...he got to pick a gift from a treasure chest which he picked a shark pincher...of course he was all over the halls biting every nurses butt with it!  UGH!  LOL 
Then at 10 the took him down to the MRI room and we walked with him.  OH I didn't think I would cry but I did.  Not in front of Nic but once they had him in there...he kept saying mommy and it made me so sad :( 

We were back in his room at 11:45 and he wanted to get right up to run around...he was a little unstable so we pushed him around for a bit first.  Now at 2 pm he's just fine and back to normal...ate well too.   We have no OFFICIAL word yet on the MRI but it shouldn't be long now.  I will either update at home or once we get settle back into his room.  Keep us in your prayers!  THANKS SO MUCH! 

Still here, and a THANKS!

You guys have all been so wonderful with all your great comments.  Nic has only improved more today :D  NOW all we need is that GOOD NEWS from our test results from the MRI which should be tomorrow.  Not a guarantee that it will be tomorrow but looks that way.  We should know by 8am if we are in the schedule or not.  If we are then poor Nic will be getting an IV in the am sometime :(  It will be ME and HIM who is crying over that one!  I'm sure.    We did take some pics with our camera phone and my daughter brought the camera today so we can get some better pics and maybe a video...she forgot the card so I can only take what is available on my camera.  So I will try to get as much as I can so you can see how much he LOVES it here lol.  We asked him if he wanted to go home today and he says NO.  He's the center of attention lol  why would he want to go home??
Daddy went to the store close to the hospital and brought him a doctors bag and BOY did he like that!  I told hubby to get him some of the cars from the movie "Cars" because he collects them but he didn't listen and got him a doc bag.  I really didn't think he would like it as much as he did but he LOVED it.  It was the same doctor kit that was in the toy room so that made it even better :D  I was wrong...he loved it just like Cory said he would. 
He has really been loving our attention and him and daddy played for hours in the play room and I enjoyed a little nap.  Poor Cory slept on two hard chairs with two foot stools inbetween them.  After a few hours of that he asked about a more comfy spot.  Nic and I were ok and sleeping so the nurses showed him the couch in the teen center and put a note on the door for him...so at least he got a little more comfy spot to sleep.  Tonight he may stay in the Ronald Mc Donald house next door.  He can shower there.  I'm jumping in the shower after Nic tonight before bed LOL  They will never know! 
Well, I better get to the playland...daddy and Nic are meeting me there in about 5 min!  I better not be late.  They are riding bikes down the hall ways now until I'm done updating.  I WILL get to everyones journal eventually!  I WILL!  Maybe tonight after Nic goes to sleep.  IF I'm not to tired!  I will update tomorrow to let ya know when the MRI is on for.  Thanks again everyone for the wonderful comments!  They made me all teary eyed from all the love you guys are sending over!

Hello from the hospital

Thanks everyone for the prayers and nice comments!  It's been a rough, long, sad, scary day that's for sure!  We started out at 4:15 am with him saying Mommy ow ow.  I knew within a min that we were going to call 911.  I called 911 and cory called his mom who is a retired emergency nurse.  She just lives right next door so she was right over in a flash.  My dad slept through everything...sirens, walking upstairs, nic crying....everything.  We left him a note and woke up Stefan and told him what was going on and then we were off.  Nic was uncomfortable for the first, I'd say 9 hours of our stay at the hospitals...then about 2pm he started to feel a bit better and was able to walk some and use the potty.  He VERY MUCH disliked  pooping in the bed pan!  OH MY did he ever!  Poor thing! 
Well, it's now 8:30 pm and he has been non stop since...riding every toy they have here in the hospital and playing outside.  I hear him laughing now riding down the hall LOL  That makes me feel a little better.  I'm SO worried about him...my worst fear is that they may find cancer.  I PRAY that is not the case but I can't help thinking that way. 
I just wanted to update and tell everyone thank you...I have to go to give hubby a break and walk/run with Nic down the halls.....well, just heard dad say it's time to retire the cars for the night so I guess it's time to get him ready for bed and teeth brushed.  Thank you all again!  :D  It means a lot to me.  Hubby is going to stay here with me tonight so that makes me feel much better.  I didn't want to stay here alone :(   I will update tomorrow on how he is doing. 

Nick is sick

This is Cory.

Nick is in the hospital.  He woke up about 4:15 this morning crying and yelling for mom and saying "Ow" over and over.  His head hurt really bad just above his spine.

We called 911 and he went to the local hospital in the Ambulance with Carrie.  I just got back from there.  From the CT Scan it looks like the neck isn't anything major but they found some bleeding or bruising on the brain in a small 7mm spot in the left-front area.

When I left they were sending him to Marshfield clinic where they can do an MRI because they don't have the right staff for pediatric MRI at the local hospital.  Carrie is riding in the ambulance down to Marshfield.  I came home to quick get some clothes and other stuff for her and him. 

I figured I better post this so everyone who we forgot to call knows what is going on.
