I had a feeling :(

I just knew when we walked over to grandma's yesterday that she was not herself and she wasn't feeling well.  I asked her if she wanted us to hand around...my FIL was gone over night out of town so she was alone.  Today she was admitted into the hospital.  GET THIS...she DROVE herself to the hospital!  AFTER SHOPPING!  Crazy women!  I had to yell at her.  I told my husband that were just going to have to tell her that I will come and get her rather then ask her if she wants me to come get her.  Here blood pressure was 62/50!   She is not happy that they are keeping her there but I feel better knowing she is there.  I just wish she would ask more of us...that's what were here for and she feels she is interfering in our lives when she asks anything of us.  I tell her over and over that I don't mind taking her places and in fact enjoy the time with her. I mean this women has mothered me since I was 17 yrs old.  I moved into her house at 16 1/2. First thing she did...take me shopping for a whole new wardrobe, got me enrolled back in school (I quit when I was a Junior) and she went to every one of my parent teacher conferences.  My parents went to a total of 0. My mom didn't have a car and my dad was usually at the bar (but thankful to inform that he has been alcohol free for YEARS)I am very proud of him for that!  He's a totally different person now.

SO that's what went on here today....I will keep you all informed on what happens here.

Isn't it amazing the baggage we all have to carry, and the unlikely angels sent our way to help?  I'm praying for Grandma.

Sorry to hear about Grandma... A part of not wanting to ask you for help is her not wanting to feel that she is losing her independence... That can be more scary than any illness... Good to hear that your Dad is now alcohol free... I have been free from my addiction for two years now... Glad Grandma was there when you needed her... My Mom never went to any of my school functions either, well maybe one or two at the most... We just got to forgive and move on.  Hope Gram is feeling better soon. ~Journey

Hi Carrie,

My daughter who is an ER nurse says, "Mother, why is it all people who are older like you do not want to bother anyone and call an ambulance or whatever?"
I told her I was not sure what the answer was other than partly independence, stubborness and generation that have been taught not to impose.
Be patient with her my friend...
My youngest daughter a Paramedic was mordified when her father did not call an ambulance for me when I had septic poisoning....
He decided he could get me there quicker as we live in an area where there are no ambulances...
Even the Dr. telling her Father that I may have had about 10 more minutes left still did not appease her.

Personally and up close I have not had to deal with alcohol issues although have seen the destruction it can cause.   PTL for your Dad being able to deal with this addiction....I am sure in his mind there were times Carrie that you may have been his inspiration.

Glad you have visited my blog and the stories will continue...that is what Nana's can really do best....I was sharing with one of my grandsons in the simplest way about Nana being adopted.

Blessings to you and yours....

Love Lori

(((Bev))) and the rest of you too. I know what she is like. I hope that she is feeling better quickly. Yell at her for me...

The kids have beens asking to visit Zeus by the way and you... So I may have to break it to them. We figured after awhile they'd stop asking. Wrong faith asks all the time. We need to come and visit one of these days..

On to my journal.

Love ya

I hope everything is OK and she is able to come home soon.  My grandmother was the same way (she passed away about 5 years ago) and she would never ask for any help even though she really needed it.  We finally had to take her car keys from her and just take places and all that.

I hope your grandma is doing better now that she's seen the doc.  My guess is that it's a bit like saying 'I can't do it' to ask someone to do something for you that you've always been able to do for youself.  Your grandma seems like a tough one.  I like that :)  My grandma used to drive all over the country up until she was about 87.  Then she was in a car accident on the way to the grocery and gave up her license.  At 94 she's still a spitfire :)

Take care doll~

I'm sorry your MIL got sick. I'm so happy that you have a great relationship with her. My MIL didn't want anything to do with me or her grandchildren, but stupid me kept trying. Now that my kids are 23, 20 and 18 she decides that she wants to be friends with them. Problem is they could care less there is no attachment with her or my FIL.
Take care, Chrissie
