WOW

Ok I have my chicken order in and it has been received!  Were getting chickens folks!  Real live chickens.  I'm making my hubby stay home the day they are suppose to get here because I'm scared I will find a dead baby chick and I will just burst out crying in front of the post master! lol  Were not looking in the box until we get it home!!  lol  Oh I'm nervous for the poor things, I wish I could go pick them up!  NO I wish Kelly was closer so I could buy some from her!  Speaking of Kelly (chicken chronicles)  She has been just a total angel with all the email she puts up with from me!  THANK YOU KELLY!  I have learned a lot in the million emails we passed back in forth the past few days.  AND she helped me get my chicks a MONTH sooner then I would have been able to get them.  I didn't see the SOLD OUT tags on almost EVERY chicken I picked at Mc Murray's website.  But Kelly told me about the Ideal Poultry hatchery and I got everything I wanted there :)  Some of the order has changed from the last entry.  Here is my new order that is done and in:

Black Cochin
Barred Rock
Black Sex Link
Brown sex link
Gold sex link
Ameraucanas
Salmon Faverolle
Silver Laced Wandotte
Ameraucana Male

The lady told me that they should ship on May 21st although the email confirming my order says May 28th so I'm calling them tomorrow to see what the deal is there.  I would like them earlier :)

Cory and I were talking and we decided to have Monday's and Thursdays "NO Tech" night!  lol Cory's idea but I thought it was a good one.  We would not watch tv or go on the computer after the boys get home from school.  Were going to spend that time reading, working on our chicken coop, or playing games.

Nic and I spend almost the entire day outdoors today and he LOVED it. It got close to 60 degrees here today.  I tried raking all the red granite that was pushed in our lawn by the snow plow up.  That was not fun!  We got a visit from Bandit (remember the black and white dog a few weeks back that invited himself in our house).  Nic loves him but Max would not leave him alone at all!  I had to put max in the outside kennel which he had NEVER been in before.  He didn't do to bad actually.  He was only in there 1/2 hour maybe.

Then we walked through the woods and I almost got stuck in the REALLY deep snow up to my knees in one part! lol  We had to turn around, go back to grandmas house and through our alphalpa field to get back home.  Nic had tons of fun!  He played his heart out and right after his bath he konked out on daddy's lap at about 7pm! He needs this extra sleep.

Most of our snow is gone except for that one part which was knee deep lol  All the snow in the woods is gone (Nic calls it a forest) he kept asking "how do we get out of this forest!"  I had him on my shoulder through the snow and that was not fun trying to walk through that with him on me lol.  We went up to visit grandma and she was not feeling well.  Nic didn't even want to stay there...he waned to walk outside more.  So we dropped off the "flower" (dead weed) that Nic picked for grandma and off we went.

All in all we had a fabulous day today :)  Got a lot of fresh air!

What? No pics of you and Nic in the forest? LOL   I think its great you got out and about. I am glad that lady is helping you with the chickens. A woman once had a horse in her front yard on a busy street in my city.....that is against the law here because it is in the city but she kept it till it died. it didnt seem to mind the traffic.

You just keep those questions coming, and if I can think of things along the way to tell you as I remember them I will. Those sex links are laying machines I will tell you that. Mine just seem to have the personality of a doorknob. You remember Hank? My sweet boy Hank, he is an Americauna. I love him so much. So have you decided which ones you will be parting with? You cant get rid of the cochins..you will LOVE LOVE LOVE them so much. I am trying to hatch eggs off of my pair now. Remember the black pair I got from the show?  One day when Nic sees the trees again..when he is grown, he will think, wow, this seemed like such a big forest when I was little! ;) Going to be 70 here today. Think I am gonna mow some, so I am outta here for now. Will check back in around lunchtime to see whats up. :) Hugs, Kelly

Black Sex Link, Brown Sex Link, Gold Sex Link.....it sounds like you are ordering chicken porn!! LMAO!! :)

I can't wait to see pictures and oh I hope there will be no dead babies....that would be horrible!!! I would be afraid to open the box too. This is going to be really fun to follow.

Oh, and I think the No Tech nights are the way to go....in today's world, we have to keep our families close & together. I really respect you & Cory for that decision!

Love & Pooh Hugs,
Linda

Glad you had such a good day.  What a shame you have to wait so long for your chickens but I suppose it will give you the time you need to organise their run :o)
