Are YOU ready for Feb 17 2009! BIG CHANGE COMING

Is everyone ready to go to Digital Television?  As of Feb 17 2009 if you use "rabbit ears" like we do, you will only be seeing static on Feb 17, 2009 unless you buy a converter box for your television set.  Here is the info on that:

As of March 1, 2007, all television receivers shipped in interstate commerce or imported into the United States must contain a digital tuner. In addition, effective May 25, 2007, the Commission required sellers of television receiving equipment that does not include a digital tuner to disclose at the point-of-sale that such devices include only an analog tuner, and therefore will require a digital-to-analog converter box to receive over-the-air broadcast television after the transition date. Retailers must inform consumers by prominently displaying the following text if they are selling TV equipment with only an analog tuner:

This television receiver has only an analog broadcast tuner and will require a converter box after February 17, 2009, to receive over-the-air broadcasts with an antenna because of the Nation’s transition to digital broadcasting. Analog-only TVs should continue to work as before with cable and satellite TV services, gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players, and similar products. For more information, call the Federal Communications Commission at 1-888-225-5322 (TTY: 1-888-835-5322) or visit the Commission’s digital television website at: www.dtv.gov.

AND if you would like a free $40.00 coupon on a converter box apply HERE! See number 3  We already did this..there are only so many coupons so if you ever think you will cancel cable or satellite I recommend applying for this. It's almost worth getting one even if you have cable right now...just in case!  You never know...they say it "should" work but who knows! lol

Hey,I got most of my stuff downloaded so I'm doing that entry next ;)  Stay tuned!

Our main TV in the living room is digital.  The one in the bedroom isn't, but we're on Dish, so we should be fine.

If you have cable, at least in West Michigan, you have an additional 3 years, as they are going to provide both signals through 2012. We have digital though, so we're okay.

yeah, i heard about everything analog is going obsolete.  even the old onstar systems won't work.  cell phones, cable boxes.  funny how it's only been 5 years and now everyone HAS to upgrade.  and at least here in VA our electric prices aren't locked in the rates they have been anymore.  2007 ended that rate lock and now the electric prices are going up up up.  some things cost too much.
